Janie Dearest

Left side 6th from top of Quilt
Here's the last triangle on my DJ, that I have finished.  It's a little surprising to me, that when I get so close to the end of a project, especially one as long as this, I seem to fade a bit.  Is it because I'm tired of working on it?  Is it the current block I need to do that makes me say, "not today"?  I often ponder on these things.  I only have eight triangles on the left side, and the four corners to finish my "Janie Dearest", named by a friend of mine, because of all my continuous complaining about doing applique.  It's been a journey, and for many people it goes on and on.  I've only been at it for 26 months!  Now really, that is not so bad!  Oh well, maybe later today :)

"Outside the Box"

This quilt is one of our quilt camp projects. It is from Brenda Henning's book "Fat Quarter Cut-Ups".  Now I'm going to have to decide on the border and I'll be done, and on time!  It really is an easy and fun quilt.  Hmmm, I'm liking my batiks again after so many years of the 1800 repros.

I'm offering a free fat quarter to the first ten people who become a member of my blog from today until Wednesday night at midnight.  Let your friends know.  A blog give away, now how fun is this?!

Way Too Long!

I'm back!  I'm sorry I haven't blogged in such a long time, but I've got a couple of updates for you.  Hawaii was great and warm!  A funny thing when you are from California, and think the winter here is cold, and icky.  I have to laugh at myself, but I do love going to the islands for sun and fun during the winter.

Onto quilting news.  I've finished my Civil War Block of the Week.  If you want to do one of these quilts, you still can.  Go to Barbara Brackman's blog for this project.  There are several to look at.  Here's the link,

I had so much with this quilt!  It is entirely made from scraps!  What a good feeling.  I've posted a picture here of the center block.  I thought I was so clever.

Quilt Camp is coming up in two weeks, here at the Quilt House, so I better get busy with the samples for the two classes I'll be teaching.  I promise to write more soon!
