I thought I'd give you a peek at a couple more of my "Grandmother's Choice" blocks.  These are the little school house blocks.  They look a little out of kilter in this picture, but no fear they are fine.  Of course at this point I'm a little behind on these weekly babies.   This is how it goes.  I catch up on few things, finish a project, and then run right into more than one project at a time.  I'm still working on my "Birdseye" blocks, and my "Scattered Stars" blocks, (remember those) and of course a new BOM has arrived in the mail.  More on that later.  I certainly don't have to worry about running out of quilting projects, do I? Ok, so on to a few hours of quilt time!

First Birdseye Block

My gosh!  Where is the timing flying to?  First thing I want to say is, Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!  I hope this holiday is filled with family, friends, and fun!  I'm going to have, my side of the family, here again this turkey day, and I can't wait!!  We all share in the cooking so there is not a lot of stress and worry.

I've been working on the UFO's I've mentioned to you, but the pile seems to get deeper and wider!  No I haven't finished all of the HST yet, but I'm working on it.  Seriously 680!  Give me a break!  I am however, working on the "Birdseye" quilt, and here is a picture of one of the first two blocks.  These are fun to plan, and sew.  I'm making a block and then making the reverse of that block, with nine patch insides all different.  Off for a couple of hours of sewing!

Half Square Triangles Everywhere

Oh my goodness, I'm dreaming of half square triangles!  I pulled out, yet another, UFO to work on.  This one was a 2010 BOM from Homestead Hearth.  As you can see from my pic, it's the Civil War Chronicles patterns. (a little blurry)  I have just this last month to do, but it includes the 68, yes, 68 blocks for the border!!  There a total of 680, one and one half inch finished HST's!!  Too many for one month in a BOM if you ask me, but I'm almost done preparing to sew them.  This is one place I love to use "Thangles", by Mary Hayes.  I'll let you know when I finally finish sewing them all.  This is a project I can take with me to sew with friends.  No thinking, just sew, sew, sew, and sew some more!!

A Story of a UFO

Birdeye by Carrie Nelson 2009
Good Monday morning from sunny California!  I really do mean sunny.  It's supposed to be a good 83 degrees today!  You all know I love my summer like weather.  It does get cold at night, but this week the days are going to be short, but yummy warm!

I visited a local quilt shop last week and admired a kit sample, made up for the pattern pictured here.  I was very sure I had the pattern.  I went home and looked everywhere, checked on line to see if it was still available, and then decided to look through a couple of those tubs, that hold my lovely UFO's.  Had the pattern, and 52 of the 121 nine patches already made.  It was a kit I had bought several years ago!!  I decided to change a bit of the colorway to make it into a dark, fall color quilt.  Samples will be coming soon!  Stay tuned!
