What's On Your Design Wall?

It's raining, it's pouring, and has been for the last five hours!  Non-stop!  As most of you know, I'm not a winter woman, I actually dislike just about everything winter has to offer, except for a little extra sewing time.  Maybe!  My husband is home this week and it's a good thing, because I think we need to get that ark out, and have it ready!

Two days before the big guy in red shows up, and I'm in my sewing room sewing!  No shopping for me!  I decided to get that "Civil War Chronicles" quilt out, and put the big corners together so I can finish up this quilt.  That would be as soon as I complete the rest of those charming little red blocks, that are the borders.  You know the ones we've chatted about in earlier posts.  LOL :-) is a picture for you.  This is what's on my design wall.  What's on yours two days before Christmas?

Oh my!  I haven't even had time to blog this past week.  You probably think that means that I've been finishing those horrid little red blocks.  Wrong!  I've only finished 35 of them.  Of course, this means I'm not making that goal, I made in my last blog.  Busy time of year seems like a good excuse.  LOL :-)  I'm still hoping to get that quilt done by the end of the year!

Since I don't really have anything new to show you, I'll left you with a couple more Block of The Week blocks for you to gander at!  Happy Holidays to all of you!  May you make new, and wonderful memories with your family, and friends!!

Civil War Chronicles Blocks by Homestead Hearth, 2010
Sew, sew, sew!!  Remember those 1/2 square triangles, I blogged about several blogs back?  Here is a picture of a few of them put together.  My goal is to make 10 of these blocks a day, and then at the end of a week, I will have finished the 68 needed to complete the border blocks for this quilt.  I don't know about all of you, but this is not my favorite type of quilting.  I get bored easily sewing the same block together so many times.  Even when using chain piecing methods, it just doesn't hold my interest. With that said, let's see how doing ten a day works for me!!  Maybe I really will finish this UFO by the end of the year.

A Quilter's Prerogative

Sew... if these blocks look familiar to you, they should.  I've showed them to you with a  different background color.  After 14 weeks of Barbara Brackman's BOW, you know the one, "Grandmother's Choice", I decided I just didn't like my first choice of background color.  I like this one so much better, so I've spent the last couple of sewing hours redoing the blocks.  I started with the seam ripper, but decided so many little pieces just not worth it!!  This is known as a quilter's prerogative, isn't it?  Oh well, it's pouring down rain, and seems like a good thing to do on a dark, wet day!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Susan's Folly by Susan Claire for Gourmet Quilter
Interesting weather for this time of year here in Northern California.  It's been raining since early last evening, and I mean raining, not just a drizzle!  Great day to spend time in the sewing room getting some work done.

I signed up for "Susan's Folly" BOM with Common Threads Quilt Store  I have done a couple of projects with them in the past, and I have to tell you, they are the very best!!  Working with them is fun and easy.  I cut the border fabric (in the picture here) wrong, and when I called they were so wonderful.  I received a 3" x 42" piece of fabric when all I needed was a 1" x 4-1/2" strip!!  Add them to your bookmarks!  They have so many wonderful reproduction fabrics, kits, and BOM's!  Anywho, I've finished this month's blocks.  Aren't they cute!?

I still have lots of projects going here, so I'm off to work on a few more!
